From WarGirl Games comes an atmospheric game of mystery and drama in which a soldier takes refuge from a storm in an abandoned barn and meets a native girl who will change everything. This is Over The Hills And Far Away, a nakige kinetic novel set during the War of 1812. This interesting project recently launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to get the game properly developed, as well as a Steam Greenlight campaign.

The War of 1812. The Northwest Frontier. William Aubrey, a rogue redcoat of the once-glorious 41st Regiment of Foot, is on the run. Wounded and tired, he seeks shelter during a thunderstorm inside an abandoned barn. But when he gets there, he finds he
fs not alone. A young Shawnee girl, named Mai, is hiding from the rain too. Bleeding out and not wanting to brave the fierce winds outside, Aubrey decides to put up with her until the rains let up. Over the course of the story, the two of them get over their general anxiety and indifference for one another, slowly bonding to become friends. But will their friendship outlast the rains; when both return to the bloodshed and the outside world?

The cinematic trailer:

The game is essentially a nakige kinetic novel, with a focus on recreating the atmosphere of the Northern Frontier through beautiful artwork and music. The formula for a
enakigef (crying game) is simple enough, with a comedic slice-of-life beginning before a decline into a very sad and tumultuous ending, sometimes with a happy reversal of fortunes. It pulls at your heartstrings and makes you care for the characters, and above all, WarGirl aim to make a game where the player really wants to save the characters from their situation.

The money raised from this campaign will go towards the creation of original sprites, background and CG artwork for the game, original orchestral music and other fees as well as rewards. Would you like to see a game set during the War of 1812, in colonial era North America?

MLD - Quick Update
Tuesday, January 20, 2015
Dear oh dear, it really has been a long time since any sort of update. For those stumbling onto this website, welcome to WarGirl Games, home of My Little Dictator. You may notice there's not a wealth of information on this website. For instance, there's no Store and no News page. Currently, the majority of news about this game and its progress are posted to Facebook, Twitter and The Hyperspace Forums. Even then, content is limited since I'd like to keep a lot of this project a surprise for players. That said, you will find some content and previews here on the site. Until I can get a store up and running, and until I have something to sell, this site will sort of just remain a home hub for links to social media and other content. I hope to get some more content on here when we're on Steam Greenlight, when there's a full demo and when the trailer is out. Until then, keep an eye on our other sites. -DesertFox
Another Update
Thursday, August 14, 2014
It's been a while since I've posted here so I'll do that now. Development on the game is coming along very well. More frequently, we're posting updates to our Twitter and Facebook so be sure to check us out on those sites. Currently the battle engine is nearing a more complete form and will be ready for a demo within the next weeks. The estimated release date is pushed backwards by the rate at which artwork is completed but also to give us time to fine tune and perfect things. This website will be more lively when a demo is ready to go, along with a trailer and other releases.

Website Update
Sunday, May 18, 2014
So, this is the new website. Things are still being designed and updated, and so it will be a while before all the content is available. Until that time, check out progress on our Twitter and Facebook, and over at Hyperspace Forums.
